Our Grant Making Strategy
For over 30 years, the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation has worked nationally and internationally, with young people, adults and victims of crime and, in doing so, we had to secure sustained funding in order to survive. Consequently,
the Foundation understands very well, the challenges of writing and submitting applications, and the difficulties of securing funding to deliver charitable objectives.
From May 2025, the Foundation has become a grant making charity, to help other charities and, with our knowledge and experience, we have put together a strategy to:
- Provide a framework for our grant making.
- Provide applicants with clear information about how we make funding decisions.
- Articulate how our funding remains relevant and responsive to future changes.
- Focus on working collaboratively and using our assets to benefit others.
By helping UK charities and nonprofit organisations, we understand the issues facing our country and use that knowledge in selecting who is in most need.
Our decisions will be based on firm evidence, to ensure our support has a lasting impact and to establish the best ways of providing support.
Who we will fund
- Charities and organisations with strong community links, who can provide firm evidence that our funding will improve young people’s lives.
- Organisations working with young women & girls.
- Organisations working with victims of crime.
Using the information, we receive from charities and organisations we fund, we will share the outcomes on our website to show the difference our funding can make.
Helping smaller charities and organisations
Smaller organisations have limited time and fewer resources, so we will use simple processes for the application, management and evaluation of grants. We will try to respond quickly and directly to your needs and build long-term and strategic partnerships.
Our funding will address real issues faced by young people and victims of crime to get the help and support they need.
